MDHUB’s Flare Audio presented with their King’s Award for Enterprise
On 30th April, MDHUB's Flare Audio was presented with their King's Award for Enterprise; as just one of just 46 companies in the UK to receive this recognition in the 2025 Innovation category.
Flare Audio was awarded for Calmer: a small silicone in-ear device that reduces stress caused by uncomfortable sound without blocking it. By altering the ear's internal geometry, it softens high-frequency noise - offering relief to people in busy environments, those sensitive to eating sounds or background chaos, and, often life-changingly, those with autism or ADHD. Flare has sold over two million pairs across 186 countries.
The formal presentation was made at Flare's Lancing HQ by Lady Emma Barnard, HM Lord-Lieutenant of West Sussex, on behalf of King Charles - who had already been given his own pair of Calmer earplugs by co-founder Davies Roberts at a Royal Reception at Windsor Castle last June.
MDHUB's Fiona Shafer was among the guests: "As long-term members of MDHUB, we are beyond thrilled at Flare Audio being awarded this prestigious award," she said. "Davies, Naomi and their team thoroughly deserve this recognition for their ground-breaking innovation, Calmer, that is changing people's lives."
Small, independent and thriving businesses are the heart of MDHUB. Flare are long-standing members, and have significantly helped others leaders through their experience, advice and companionship, so we know so many of our members will be thoroughly delighted with their success.
Congratulations to Davies, Naomi, and everyone at Flare Audio. We're proud to have you as members.
