Leading Without Burning Out
The demands in today’s working culture have become more complex. Roles often include hybrid working and the culture of digital communications leaves no clear ‘cut off’ time for finishing our working day.
How we teach our nervous system to ‘switch off’ and ‘recover’ from work is crucial in terms of how we perform effectively at work and how we prevent the harmful effects of ongoing stress and burnout.
What we will cover:
• An overview of burnout with a nervous system lens.
• Raise awareness of the specific challenges of current workplace cultures and the common ‘life traps’ for high performers.
• Education and strategies for how to regulate and manage your nervous system.
• A consideration of what the performance literature tells us: what leaders need to know to promote effective ‘recovery’ and reduce burnout risk for themselves and their teams.
• Jackie’s ‘top pick’ of key models: how to train your nervous system to take ‘micro breaks’, set ‘boundaries’, get the ‘right kind of rest’ and create new habits (without taking up more of your more time!)
• An awareness of the common risks ( or ‘life traps’) for high performers (including self-sacrifice and unrelenting standards) in the context of recovery and burnout.
