The beginning - your ‘eureka’ moment:
We are a dynamic and dedicated team of experienced, highly qualified investment professionals who have worked for some of the world’s most prestigious financial institutions. The ‘eureka’ moment came when we had the confidence to leave the corporate world and set up our own business - Brighton Capital Management. We can do this!
The best and the worst of times:
Best time in business – support and encouragement from friends, family and clients to set up Brighton Capital Management. Worst time in business – being told your local business, despite being the fastest growing in the Group, would be re-located 40 miles up the road. The corporate world we then lived in, turning its back on opportunities in Brighton and South Coast. It left a bad taste in our mouth but on the plus side pushed us into setting up our own business.
What gets you out of bed in the morning - what motivates you?:
Every day is an opportunity to improve the client experience and make someone happy – how exciting is that! I even love my commute in, normally by road bike or motorcycle – seeing Brighton and the seafront waking up never gets boring #LoveBrighton
Luck or skill - what gets your further?:
An interesting question for a Wealth Manager that invests in global stock markets. No doubt about it – you need both! From my experience some of the best, and arguably the most skilled investors I’ve met with or read about are normally the first to admit that luck has played a role in their success. However, there are a lot of ‘moving parts’ in our industry and the skill is making sense of all the variables and developing a strategy for a long-term financial plan and of course generally being more right than wrong.
Having a passion for your business and the tenacity of getting up every time you get knocked down. Learn from your mistakes – onwards and upwards
Moving on up - your ambitions and the next big thing:
Simply replicate the levels of new business created in our last venture in the corporate world whilst continuing to improve the client experience and engagement. Look beyond the individual client’s financial needs to include their family and business – a truly multi-family wealth management service.
Your top tips:
Listen more, have courage, be considered, thoughtful and friendly and take time to work on your lifestyle / work balance
