Tell us about your business:
Aviatrix is an independent strategic market research consultancy created to help you increase sales by gaining a greater understanding of your business through the eyes of your customers. The business specialises in advising companies about how to market to women and the pub and restaurant industry.
The beginning - your ‘eureka’ moment:
Understanding that women make 80% of purchases and represent the planet's largest economic power. Knowing this in the context of not hearing this spoken about very often and seeing how little serious attention is given to this highly lucrative opportunity is really exciting for my new business.
The best and the worst of times:
The best times are doing a great piece of work for a client that enables them to improve their business. The worst of times was the recession happening and the feeling of being out of control and watching the sales fall in our restaurant business by dramatic levels.
What gets you out of bed in the morning - what motivates you?:
The opportunity to achieve something and make money to have a good life.
Luck or skill - what gets your further?:
Getting on with people and being curious.
Self motivated, creative, a huge fear of failure but do it anyway, want to make the world a better place
Moving on up - your ambitions and the next big thing:
Build Aviatrix as a consultancy that has great clients that I enjoy working with and balance this time spent with time at home with my family. Write a book on how to market to women perhaps!?
Your top tips:
- Develop your ability to hear and trust your instincts - Ask for help and get as much advice as possible - Build great relationships with people and businesses - Listen to your heart not your head - Be true to yourself - Have a laugh - Do what makes you feel good - Try not to dwell on failures
What others say about you and your business:
Fun, engaging, insightful, challenging, successful, diligent, professional, determined, constructive, practical, commercial
Thank you for a great presentation last week [MDHUB Future Forward 2012]. It was extremely stimulating and my only regret is that I couldn’t stay until the end.
